The Full Story
History
Our origins go back to the 1950s when a group of enthusiastic stitchers started meeting at Duns and eventually became part of the Embroiderers’ Guild.

It wasn’t long before members moved to a more central venue in Berwick-Upon-Tweed, but the branch always looked to its roots north of the border and on one notable occasion in the 80s hosted a regional day for Scotland . . . in England! When the Community Centre in Berwick was no longer a viable option, the alternative venue chosen was back in Scotland at the Village Hall, Foulden.

In this new millennium, changes at the Embroiderers’ Guild nationally prompted heated discussions about the future. In 2007, a decision was taken to go it alone and set up a new group with the aim of attracting members with broader and different textile-based interests. The name chosen to represent the new era was Border Textile Group.
There are currently in excess of 50 members drawn from across north Northumberland and the Scottish Borders
