Exhibitions

Barring global events we try to hold an exhibition every 3 years. We held exhibitions in 2013, 2016, 2021 and 2024. You can learn more about a particular event and view members work by clicking the images opposite, on the button's or by visiting our archive website

Our latest exhibition was held at Foulden Village Hall in June 2024 and had the theme "Borders in Stitch". It featured works inspired by guest speakers from 2022 onwards, articles produced during group workshops from 2022 as well as three years’ worth of “Challenge” entries. Some members were on hand to answer questions and demonstrated textile techniques. There were a number of fundraising initiatives held over the weekend. These included a “pick a square” game, commission from sales tables where visitors had the opportunity to buy unique works of textile art, haberdashery and gifts. Monies raised will be split between Berwick Cancer Cars and local RNLI.  Light refreshments were provided by Northern Soul Kitchen, a local food charity who supplied us with delicious cakes and lunches.

Organiser Vanessa Priest said:

”The event was a great showcase of the skills of our membership. We have had lots of enquires from members of the public during and after the exhibition about joining our group. This exhibition would not have been possible without the hard work of our members, many who kindly lent us display equipment and gave up their time over the weekend to make the event such a great success. I would like to say a big thank you to all those who supported it..”

The Challenge theme of the 2024 exhibition was "Borders in Stitch" It could be any size, in any textile or stitch medium and how to interpret “borders” was left to the participants.

The organising sub-committee included Vanessa Priest, Kate Allport and Anne Wadey, and was ably supported by the BTG committee and a host of volunteers during set up and throughout the weekend.
