Enrolment
Activity day 10am - 4pm

As well as Enrolling for the year ahead there will be a full day of mini workshops led by Theresa (Origami boxes), Kay (Smocked tartan) and Rhona & Yvonne (embroidery on wood). There is also space to have a natter whilst working on your own projects and the 2024 Christmas Challenge will be issued.

Rachel Bell - Kilt Making

Presentation 2pm - 4pm

A personal history about textiles and kilt making. The process of how to make a kilt and the history of kilt making.

Sarah Wakefield, a New Zealander living in the Borders, has enjoyed fabrics, embroidery and textiles from a young age. Her journey into eco and botanical printing on fabric and paper has been good for health, well being and soul.

Carol Munro -

Presentation 2pm - 4pm

Carol is a well know appliqué quilt artist and teacher. She will be showing us some of her work and explaining her methods.

14 Apr

Carol Munro: Trees

Workshop 10am - 4pm

During this workshop Carol will be explaining how to reproduce her tree design and Highland cow design appliqué pieces. Demonstrating how quilting can bring more dimension to small textiles.

UFO Day

10am - 4pm.

 A chance to stitch together and problem solve. We will also be gathering entries, co-ordinating volunteers and passing on the plans for the Borders in Stitch Exhibition.

Borders in Stitch - BTG Exhibition

10am - 4pm

An Exhibition of members work, Challenge entries and workshop creations from the past 3 years. Sales tablesand refreshments. Please volunteer to help if you can and tell your friends.

In this workshop Gillian will be showing us a quick and fun technique for adding appliqué to your quilt. The finished piece could then be turned into a book cover or added to a cushion.

Gillian is a textile tutor, specialising in teaching City & Guilds courses in patchwork and quilting. To keep her own work fresh and expand her skills she has been studying for an MA in Contemporary Art and Archaeology. This presentation takes you on a journey through the course and her locality, describing how they influenced the quilts she has been making as she pieces together fragments of the past.

Ali Ferguson - Cloth Stories

Presentation 2pm - 4pm

Stories lie at the very heart of Ali Ferguson's textile practice, she is interested in the "why" more than the "how". She explains why mind maps are important to her, and tells the stories behind some of her favourite pieces featured in her book "Cloth Stories".

fabulous day of hand stitching to made a patchwork wooden wreath with a "vintage Christmas" or "sewing box" theme. You will leave at the end of the day with a gorgeous personal wall decoration that can be brought out and enjoyed year after year.

Our own Kay  Gardiner has teamed up with new member Ruth Wadey to talk about the art of Stumpwork, a 3d embroidery technique, and show us examples of their work.
